Content delivery is an impactful and meaningful way to show your value to your most important business contacts. When you share relevant and insightful material, you show your contacts you understand their businesses, and, more importantly, you provide proof that you truly are their advisor.
This does not, however, indicate that you should become a content developer for the various niches you serve. You can deliver the same value to your clients by curating and delivering appropriate content.
Effective Content Curation Has Significant Value
Consider the case study of Matt Drudge and The Drudge Report.
The Drudge Report is a politically conservative American news aggregation website. Run by Matt Drudge, with the help of Charles Hurt, the site consists mainly of links to news stories from other outlets about politics, entertainment, and current events. Both design and original material are minimal.
This Drudge Report attracts 2 million visitors every day. The site serves as a “one-stop shop” where a visitor can get to all of the information regarding the topic they need from a variety of sources. In fact, Mike Drudge has been called the second most influential man in America.
Services like Google Alerts have made curating content easier. There are more robust tools available as well, though not all are free. The most important part of the equation is the distribution channel.
Sending the Right Message
In a separate post, we discuss the statistics of email open and click through rates. To quickly recap, if you send an enewsletter to 100 contacts, only 28 will open your message and five will click through.
Personalized emails with a specific message and relevant material deliver more value and carry greater weight than a generic e-newsletter. This then strengthens your credibility and builds your brand.
ABLE’s Content Library has done some of the work for you in terms of material aggregation. The ABLE team scours the web and curation sites to add the most applicable articles to the Content Library on a weekly basis. These articles are available for ABLE users to send to their most important contacts, complete with article summaries, tags, business categories, and links. If there is an item of your own you want to share, that can be easily added to your Content Library.
