About Kai Richardson
Kai joined the ABLE team in June 2021 as ABLE’s Front-End Designer. Kai is responsible for the end user experience. He works on the front-end development of ABLE, ensuring everything looks the way it should for our users.
Kai was born in San Francisco, CA, but shortly moved all the way up to Juneau, AK where he lived for about 10 years. One of his favorite memories living in Alaska is watching their local black bear eat blueberries from a treehouse Kai’s father made for him and his sister. Kai and his family then named the bear Blueberry. Kai currently resides in Seattle, WA. He studied Web Design and 3D animation at Washington State University in Pullman, WA. Before college, Kai worked at various cafes and bakeries learning how to bake pies and pull espresso. Prior to working at ABLE, Kai grew his skills in web development and design working for a video game company in Bellevue, WA.
It’s important to Kai to stay focused and engaged throughout the day. A few things on his desk help with this, including his beard brush, whiteboard, and turtle Beanie Baby. When Kai is working on an issue, he finds combing through his facial hair helps focus his mind on the task at hand. He also likes to draw out designs and code on his whiteboard above his desk. Helping Kai review his designs and projects is Shelly the turtle. Shelly sits on top of Kai’s monitor providing valuable encouragement during the work day.

On Kai’s days off, you can find him hiking or camping in the woods. A new hobby Kai picked up recently is restoring old cast iron pots and pans, and gifting them to friends and family.
