About Alek McKenzie
Alek joined the ABLE team in March 2021 as ABLE’s Client Engagement Coordinator. He works behind the scenes to provide excellent customer service to clients. Alek helps out the entire engagement team through his attention to detail and love for client engagement.
Alek has lived in many places throughout the Midwest, including Franklin, Wisconsin, Chicago, Illinois, and Springfield, Illinois. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Corporate Communications from Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville (SIUE). Alek’s past professional experience includes being a Brand Ambassador Barista at Starbucks and Customer Service Advocate at Verizon. Additionally, he has experience in the public-school sector as a Youth Development Assistant and Site Coordinator.
Alek is no stranger to keeping his work environment orderly and comfortable. Some things that help Alek stay focused throughout the day include photos of his family and Stella, his 15 ½ year old Australian cattle dog, his Hydro Flask water bottle, and crocheted blanket. Having photos of the most important people in Alek’s life on his desk helps keep him motivated to perform his very best. Staying hydrated is also very important to Alek, which is why he always keeps his water bottle right by his side. Before coming back to the Midwest, Alek spent some time in New Mexico. As Alek gets acclimated to the colder Midwest days, a hand-made crocheted blanket made by his mother is always near his workspace.

When Alek is out of the office, he enjoys taking walks around Queeny Park in Ballwin, MO and Leclaire Park in Edwardsville, IL. If he is not strolling in a park, you can find Alek browsing the aisles of Target, one of his favorite places to spend way too much time and money.

- At the age of four, he was adopted from Vidin, Bulgaria. He is grateful to his parents for constantly showing their support by providing him with the tools and resources to help him be the best version of himself.
- He is a huge dog person. Alek’s family dog Stella has had such a positive impact on his life.
- He has a passion for interior design. From a young age, Alek always loved watching HGTV with his mom. He loves expressing himself creatively through furniture selection and home décor.
